Superhero Movie Fatigue "Absolutely Exists," Says The Marvels Director

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated the box office for the past decade. But this year has seen films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania disappoint with ticket sales. And that’s not even mentioning total bombs like DC’s The Flash. It’s just more evidence that superhero fatigue could be setting in, something that The Marvels director Nia DaCosta believes is happening for moviegoers.Come from Sports betting site VPbet

Speaking with Total Film (via GamesRadar), DaCosta said she thinks “superhero fatigue absolutely exists.” So how will she fight back against that lethargy? By making her MCU sequel feel unique, she argues.

“The biggest difference from the other MCU movies to date is that it’s really wacky, and silly,” DaCosta said. “The worlds we go to in this movie are worlds unlike others you’ve seen in the MCU. Bright worlds that you haven’t seen before.”

DaCosta isn’t the first Marvel director to acknowledge this issue. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn opened up about superhero fatigue earlier this year. The DC Studios co-head theorized the problem isn’t just with superheroes, but any spectacle film without a grounded emotional story.

As for The Marvels, the MCU Phase 5 movie got delayed to November 10 earlier this year. The film sees Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) entwined with Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). The unlikely team-up leads to the trio fighting in space in the latest Marvels trailer, on top of tons of adorable kitties that are more than they seem.
